WHY?

Leith has always been a place shaped by stories, creativity and community. As one of Edinburgh's most vibrant waterfront districts, it deserves a film festival that reflects that same spirit.

LSFF was created to provide opportunities for emerging filmmakers and to help bridge the gap between ambition and access within the film industry.

We believe that talent exists everywhere, but opportunities do not always follow.

That's why we welcome filmmakers from all backgrounds, experience levels and corners of the world, creating a platform where great storytelling takes centre stage.

Our vision is to connect filmmakers with audiences, industry professionals and fellow creatives through film screenings, awards, panel discussions and meaningful conversations.

By bringing together people at different stages of their careers, we aim to create an environment where knowledge is shared, connections are made, and the next generation of filmmakers can find inspiration, guidance and opportunity.
